Yoga Toe Socks

Yoga Teacher Kathryn BudigHow many times in your yoga class have you heard your teacher tell you to spread your toes?

Yoga toes.  Once you’ve taken enough asana classes you have most certainly heard of them or seen pictures of the masters displaying them with ease in Yoga Journal (and they always make it look so easy!).  Yoga toes are toes that can spread.  And spread wide.  How far apart can you spread your toes?

Yoga is all about flexibility and strength.  Well then, how about your feet?  ToeSox keep the toes spread and separated so that the toes can stretch naturally.  The muscles in your feet need to be exercised just like every other muscle of your body.  If not, these muscles in the feet will atrophy causing postural alignment issues that may lead to chronic pain or difficulty in balancing.  ToeSox encourage flexibility and strength in the feet by allowing the feet to experience their natural state.  Foot freedom.  Happy feet.  Good stuff.

So are yoga socks better than bare feet?  Well, in some ways ToeSox are...especially for those of us who don’t have “yoga toes” (yet).  Our poor little toes and feet have been crammed into shoes and socks that don’t allow them to move freely and stretch.  Wearing toe socks on a regular basis can liberate those jammed feet.  It’s a foot revolution here at ToeSox.  Yes, you heard me.  A Foot Revolution.

Toe Sox are equally great for students heading to class.  Just think, you can wear flip-flops with your ToeSox all year round!  So that when you get to the studio, you slide easily out of your shoes outside the yoga room and walk around in your comfortable, toe-spreading sox.  Then you start class with warm feet and perhaps after a few sun salutations you may want to take them off.  But keep them nearby!  Because once you get to the floor poses or meditation or savasana, you may want to put your feet-strengthening ToeSox back on for warmth.

Our original ToeSox are particularly wonderful for Gentle, Prenatal or Restorative yogis that crave the warmth during slower classes and the non-slip sole for better control and balance.

Our new HALF-ToeSox has an open toe design to provide added grip on your mat.  Great for hot yoga!  No longer do you have to worry about slipping on your mat or even worry about having a towel for sweat absorption.  ToeSox absorb the sweat while at the same time giving you the extra grip you need.

And finally, addressing our beloved yoga teachers, how nice would it be to walk around the room having your toes spread for you while you teach a class?  And if you go to adjust a student and this requires stepping on a mat, you do so with the courtesy of clean sox and not bare feet.

And now ToeSox are made with 100% Organic Cotton to show our respect for our environment. Simply by going organic in what you wear, sleep on, wash and dry with, and what you consume, you can help replenish our planet and safeguard its future.

Bottom line, every yogi needs a pair (or two or three…) of ToeSox.

Namaste.

A word about your toes...

“ It’s never too late to learn to spread them. You have muscles in your feet that are designed to spread your toes just as the muscles in your hands spread your fingers. If your toes stayed glued together no matter how much you try to spread them, the muscles are probably atrophied from lack of use, and the toes themselves may have lost flexibility. “
